Position Overview

Field Organizers are core staff to TCP's field outreach strategy who report to the Manager of Mobilization and Field Strategy and work within a team of organizers who are each responsible for the implementation of TCP's field plan in a specific region or municipality. Organizers are responsible for managing their regional outreach (canvassing three days a week), recruitment, and training, by leveraging a mix of direct and peer-to-peer tactics and tools. Organizers will also assist in leader and supporter development, and also assemble and lead local canvassing teams for direct neighbor engagement and input. Additionally, organizers will serve as key contributors on campaign and cross-functional teams to ensure TCP strategies,

communications, and policy solutions are rooted in the interests of lower-income and asset-limited households.



The Field Organizer will work under the supervision of the Manager of Mobilization and Field Strategy and in close collaboration with a team of organizers, as well as TCP staff, coalition partners, and community members. The Organizer will work on behalf of both The Connecticut Project, where they are an employee, and The Connecticut Project Action Fund, an affiliated 501c4 of TCP. This is a full-time, salaried position.



Core Responsibilities


  • Execute a robust outreach and data-driven field plan to identify, recruit, train, and mobilize leaders and supporters, that includes voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots development, and investment in community partnerships that elevate local leadership to shape and support TCP's priorities.
  • Canvass, at a minimum of, four hours, three days a week to cultivate new relationships for TCP's organizing strategy.
  • Execute 5-10 weekly 1:1 follow up conversations with leads developed from canvassing.
  • Host monthly convenings for local communities the organizer is working in.
  • Develop 20 new community leaders per year.
  • Recruit, train, and assist in the promotion of leadership within a specified region at every level of the organization's recruitment and supporter development pipeline, with an eye towards building sustainable and permanent grassroots activism.
  • Develop an organized network of connected and engaged supporters within a specified region, by leveraging our CRM, communication platforms, social media channels, and other appropriate engagement tools through collaboration with TCP staff.
  • Assist the Manager of Mobilization and Field Strategy in developing training and support to TCP's field program, including scripts and training for door-to-door, phone banks, and other voter contact and engagement strategies.
  • Execute grassroots advocacy plans inclusive of grassroots lobbying, in- district meetings and town halls, letter writing, phone banks, lobby days, and annual grassroots leadership conferences.
  • Execute middle and bottom funnel lead generation strategies for your region to convert leads into organization supporters and leaders who take local and state action and help develop a sense of community.
  • Assist in the execution of coaching, training, and deploying field organizing cohorts in their region and in partnership with TCP grantees.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with local political leaders, partner organizations, and activist groups.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Mobilization and Field Strategy

    • Some professional experience in organizing, canvassing, community engagement, or related field preferred but not required.

          Team Structure and Reporting

          TCP's Advocacy & External Affairs Team consists of Marketing & Communications, Mobilization & Field Strategy, and Policy & Advocacy. This position reports to the Manager of Mobilization and Field Strategy.



          Compensation & Benefits

          This position is full-time, operating in a hybrid environment designed for feasibility for staff across Connecticut. Compensation for this role is between $70,000 and $90,000 and commensurate with experience. Applicants should live in or be willing to relocate to the targeted region.
